"INVISIBLE JOINT" – APPLYING LASER EDGE BANDS

Why?

When applying laser edge bands, the glue line is practically zero. The appearance of edges is crucial, especially with increasingly popular high-gloss acrylic boards, where white glue is not an option.

White glue only partly solves the joints, as the white glue line "discolours" over time. Lacquering and polishing high gloss is often too expensive.

All light chipboard decors and colours such as red and black will look perfect with laser edge banding.

More than 50 machines in Europe are already equipped with laser technology. The downside of this technology is its extremely high price, which only a few can afford.

Kantenking is an alternative solution for applying laser edge bands. The end result is the same. Proven! Its only limitation compared to a laser is the maximum processing speed of 20 m/min. The key advantage of Kantenking – it is affordable for craftsmen!

How available are laser edge bands?

Where in Slovenia can you get edge banding with laser edge bands?

In Slovenia there is no joiner or company that has or offers the option of applying these bands.

However, quite a few joiners look for this service in nearby Austria and also in Croatia, where they even have an edgebander with a laser unit.

The fact is that the market needs this solution. Whoever is the first in Slovenia to offer laser edge banding services has business guaranteed! We dare to say so.

KantenKing – How does it work?

Kantenking is an alternative to laser technology. It works on the principle of high-pressure hot air.

The advantage is that this technology is much cheaper and therefore accessible to craftsmen as well. The unit can be installed on most existing edgebanders.

The end result is very similar or almost identical.

KantenKing unit – edge banding – "zero joint"

It works on the principle of laser technology. A thin bonding layer 2–3 hundredths of a millimetre thick is pre-applied to the edge band and bonds with the workpiece when processed with the hot-air unit. The result is a practically invisible joint. Glue scrapers, cleaning units and IR lamps are no longer needed!

Advantages of the joint:

- invisible joints – especially desirable on acrylic boards, high-gloss boards, 1 mm ABS

- joints are extremely strong (see the video below)

- water resistance – edges are much more resistant to moisture than with EVA glues! 2–3x higher water resistance compared to conventional glues.
